Anmitsu at Umezono Asakusa 🍨

Desserts near Sensoji Temple.

Hello again ^^

Today, I will take you to Asakusa with Anmitsu (Japanese dessert).

Have you ever watched Kantaro: The Sweet Tooth Salaryman on Netflix? Kantaro is a salaryman who loves desserts. He always spends his free time while he is working on desserts in Tokyo and the neighborhood. The series broadcasted in July 2017.

I know many Japanese desserts from this program. During my Tokyo trip in December 2024, I found a shop that sells Anmitsu by chance in Asakusa (it’s not the same shop as in Kantaro). Umezono is near Sensoji Temple. The shop sells Japanese-style foods, beverages, and desserts.

Menu display featuring various Japanese desserts available at Umezono near Sensoji Temple, including Anmitsu and Dorayaki.

Anmitsu is a traditional dessert (summer desset), it made of agar jelly, red bean paste, variety of fruits, mochi and boiled red bean. Anmitsu serves with black syrup (A black sugar : cane sugar that hasn’t been refined yet)

I ordered cream anmitsu, a delicious Japanese dessert with various textures and flavors. It has creamy ice cream, sweet red bean paste, fresh fruit, and soft mochi that adds a chewy contrast.
